The Canadian pulse industry got a major boost on Friday.
The federal government has announced 4.4 million dollars in funding for Pulse Canada.
Most of the money will be used to promote the environmental and health benefits of pulses, but CEO Gordon Bacon says they're also looking to improve the pulse transportation system.
Bacon says Canada has a poor reputation internationally as being an unreliable supplier.
He says this announcement signals a 4 year commitment to the pulse industry by the federal government.
The money is coming out of the Agri-Flexibility Fund and the Agri-Marketing Program.
