| Jones Will Represent Canada Once Again |
Jennifer Jones and her Team Canada successfully defended their title at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Sault Ste. Marie.
Down 6-3 after six ends to PEI's Kathy O'Rourke, Jones battled back to take a 7-6 lead in the ninth. O'Rourke wouldn't go down without a fight though, scoring one in the tenth to force an extra end. Jones made no mistake in the 11th, scoring one to win it 8-7. The win is Jones third straight at the Scotties and fourth overall. She will once again lead her rink of Jill Officer, Dawn Askin and Cathy Overton-Clapham into the World Women's Curling Championship. That tournament goes from March 20-28 in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.
While Sault Ste. Marie was rocking with Scotties fever, the Portage Curling Club wrapped up the Sportsman's Bonspiel last night. Laurie Stewart took home the title, knocking off Norm Leduc of Treherne 7-3 in yesterday's final. |
