Mike McEwen's big win in the CanadInns Prairie Classic was one of the big highlights of 2011. The Portage Curling Club enjoyed another big year in 2011.

President Trevor Found says there was plenty to get excited about during the 2011 season, especially with the club's signature event once again drawing a good crowd.

"We had a good run at the CanadInns Prairie Classic," says Found. "We had a good field this year and we're pretty happy with the numbers we got out this year. We hope to build on it for next year."

As for the year ahead, Found is confident things will continue to go smoothly. He says some new additions to the club's staff have turned out really well.

"We're just getting ready for bonspiels and everything's looking good," says Found. "Our new manager is working out really well and also our icemaker is learning the ropes a little bit but he's done a great job. We're pretty happy."

The club still has several big events on the calendar coming up including the Ladies Evening Bonspiel and the ever popular Last Chance Bonspiel.
