With the Central Plains Female Caps at the midway mark of their season, head coach Ferdi Nelissen takes some time to reflect on how they've been progressing.

Nelissen goes on the say after the high turnover rate they had at the start of the season he wasn't sure what to expect. He's very pleased to see them at the level they are now and that's something they plan to continue growing on. Nelissen explains as far as improvements to the team go, defense is looking good but they'll need a bit more work offensively.

He stresses the key to a successful offense is taking more shots off rebounded pucks. Nelissen says if they can do that then the wins will come. The Caps have matched up well against the top team in the league, the Pembina Valley Hawks. Nelissen says they're looked to as the bench mark for the level other teams would like to be at. In their last couple meetings the Caps couldn't quite come out with the win but Nelissen stresses despite what the score might show, they lined up pretty well.

Overall Nelissen is happy with how the girls have been performing thus far. He notes the key for them right now is to get healthy, because over the last month it seems it has been one injury after the other. The Caps head into the latter half of the season with a 8-4-2 record. The next time the girls take to the ice is Saturday when they host Yellowhead. Puck drop for that match-up is at 7:15.
