It was a close game last night between the Central Plains Capitals and the Winnipeg Thrashers in Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League action. The Caps fell 6-5 to the Thrashers with mere minutes left in a gripping third period.

Coach Brad Gnidziejko explains what happened.

"The boys worked hard, there's no doubt. We came out, got a good lead and then, you know you get a little bit too aggressive at times and get yourself caught flat-footed and it ends up in the back of your net."

Gnidziejko notes goaltender Riley Sviestrup played a fantastic game. He explains how last night's game will influence upcoming games.

"We're going to review what we could change and we'll go from there. The good news is they're working very, very hard; our forechecks are in good shape and we're moving the puck okay, it's just the untimely mistakes. They're learning, so it's going to happen."

The Caps are back at it tonight when they face the Interlake Lightning.
