Aaron Goldade had two goals and an assist as the Plum Coulee Xpress beat the Oakville Seals 5-3 in the lone South Eastern Manitoba Hockey League game.

Brendan Heppner, Mitch Fehr and Ronny Klassen also scored for the Xpress who improved to 5-3-1 and moved within one point of the second place Altona Maroons. Allan Roulette scored twice for the Seals while Jamie Houle had the other. Oakville has lost four straight games.

Winkler's Dustin Penner and Delaney Collins of Pilot Mound are finalists for Manitoba's Male and Female Athlete of the Year for 2007. Penner, a member of the Stanley Cup champion Anaheim Ducks last season, scored a career-high 29 goals and 16 assists for 45 points in 82 regular season games, breaking the Ducks' record for most points by a rookie and finishing fifth overall in NHL rookie scoring. He added three goals and five assists in 21 playoff games including two game-winners. Collins was a member of Canada's Gold Medal winning team at the World Women's Hockey Championship and was named a tournament all-star. The other male finalists are Israel Idonije of the Chicago Bears, Manitoba Amateur and Mid-Amateur golf champion Brad Kirton, Winnipeg Wesmen basketball player Erfan Nasajpour and Jonathan Toews who helped Canada win both the World Men's and World Junior Hockey Championships. The other female finalists are speedskater Cindy Klassen, Alana Miller from squash, racquetball's Jennifer Saunders and Manitoba Bisons volleyball player Ashley Voth. The five finalists for Team of the Year include the Manitoba Senior Baseball League champion Brandon Cloverleafs who brought home a silver medal from the Baseball Canada Senior Championship. Jennifer Jones and her curling team which were a semi-finalist at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Smitty's who won the Canadian Senior "A" Women's Fastpitch Championship, the Vanier Cup champion Manitoba Bisons football team and the Winnipeg Wesmen who won the CIS Men's Volleyball Championship. The winners will be announced at the Manitoba Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association's 52nd annual Athletes of the Year awards dinner on Sunday, January 27th in Winnipeg.
