It's the end of a long season for the Portage Figure Skating Club, and they're marking it with their annual Spring Skating Carnival tomorrow, at the PCU Centre.

Club President Erin McCartney describes the carnival as a fun event for the skaters, after focusing on training and competition since September. She sees it as a chance for the skaters to celebrate all they've accomplished through the year.

McCartney says it's an event that's sheer joy for the skaters, and they're excited to show their talents to parents and family. She notes the older skaters get caught up n the excitement as well.

McCartney knows parents, family, and friends will be at the PCU Centre tomorrow, but hopes people from the general population of Portage will take time to watch as well, to see how hard the club works. She says it isn't well known how much time the skaters put into their sport, training night after night in preparation for competitions. She believes the carnival is a chance to showcase how much the club does.

The carnival starts at 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the PCU Centre's main arena and there's no admission, although there's a silver collection at the door. McCartney adds they'll feature a silent auction and 50-50 draw.
