Dr. Jon Gerrard at the flood forum he held in Portage la Prairie.

Dr. Jon Gerrard is holding another flood forum in the province today.
The Manitoba Liberal leader is scheduled to be at the Moosehorn Community Hall from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. this evening.  Gerrard says the flood forecast available on the Manitoba Water Stewardship website dates back to 2010.  He says people need up to date information to know how high they need to build their dykes on Lake Manitoba in order to be safe.

Gerrard adds the public needs clear communication about what needs to be done.  He says it's important for people to come to the forums and share their story with others who have similar problems, renforcing it's also important to work together to get the issues addressed.

Gerrard adds there are continuing problems with how the flood is being handled as there is an urgent need to resolve the issues quickly.  He says many people are telling him that the compensation process is taking too long and bad decisions are being made.  He adds he's holding these forums so he has the input from those affected so he may advocate for them.  Gerrard says his main goal is to listen to people and get their opinions on what needs to be done now.
