Gerry Gascoigne speaking at an event in October 2011

After nearly 17 years on the job, the Coordinator for the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba in the Central Plains is retiring. Gerry Gascoigne, who first opened the office in 1995, will be stepping down from the position at the end of March. He says during his time with the Alzheimer Society he's found the work to be extremely rewarding, but it's now simply time for some fresh blood to lead the group into the future.

Many new assistance programs, care giving conferences and collaborations with local schools have moved ahead in and around Portage la  prairie, thanks to Gascoigne's efforts over the years. Gascoigne says the group has brought some really good projects into the community that have made a difference, and he values the time he spent working with the organization.
