Central R.H.A. Registered Dietician Janelle Botteril

March is National Nutrition Month and as part of it, a Portage la Prairie dietician is looking to debunk some of the most common myths about healthy eating.

Janelle Botterill of the Central R.H.A. made a presentation on the subject yesterday to the Portage Rotary Club. She says a few of the most common misconceptions out there include the one that says by cutting out foods high in carbohydrates, people can lose weight. Botterill says lowering portions in any food group will help to you to lose weight.

She says another common myth is that multi-grains are better than whole grains.  Botterill says there is so much information available, people can have difficulty making sense of it all. What she'd like to do is help bring the knowledge back, and make it easy and practical for everyone to use on an everyday basis.
