Portage la Prairie is getting an early start on some of its spring cleaning.

Director of Operations Kelly Braden says maintenance crews were out yesterday with high pressure steamers and water vacuums working on opening up frozen sewers and stop water from ponding in some parts of the city. A grader was also used to scrape snow and ice from the gutters.

Braden says there were a few areas on the citys north side that needed immediate attention yesterday, and over the next few days, the rest of the community will be covered. He says with the little amount of snow this winter, this work has been a little bit easier to deal with.
