Mayor Earl Porter receives award from Ian MacKenzie

Portage la Prairie is receiving credit for doing what it can to be an age-friendly city.

Council was presented with a certificate of acknowledgement on Monday evening for its ongoing efforts. The Age Friendly Cities award is from the province, the Public Health Agency of Canada, and the World Health Organization.

Mayor Earl Porter says he's honoured to see the city, Janet Shindle and the Age Friendly Committee recognized. The committee was started 8 years ago to ensure the promotion of age appropriate activities and healthy living throughout Portage la Prairie.
