Prairie Rose School Division discussed their proposed budget with the public in Elm Creek Tuesday night. Secretary Treasurer Agnes Gaultier tells us they were pleased with the turn out, and says those in attendance asked well informed questions. She explains local residents were interested in the discontinuation of the tax incentive grant, capital projects, bill 13 in regards to learning until age 18, and the division's plans for services for school aged children with emotional and mental health challenges. Gaultier adds there were also questions to clarify possible tax increases.

Gaultier shares what they presented at the meeting.

She adds the board is now looking at staffing for the coming year, and notes they only have about 2 weeks before the budget process is complete.

Gaultier tells us the division is also busy with some ongoing, new and potential projects. She says St. Laurent School has a resizing project going out for tender that will be tackled this summer, and that's not all.

On March 12th the board will pass the final draft of the budget at a special meeting. In 2011-2012 the Prairie Rose School Division budget called for approximately 24 million dollars in spending.
