Very good showing on the podium for athletes from the Central Plains at the 2012 Special Olympics Canada Winter Games. Sara Holmes and Barret Wallis of Portage la Prairie come home with multiple medals. Holmes won a gold in the 200 metre snowshoe event and a silver in the 4 by 100 metre relay. Wallis, meanwhile won two gold, in the 100 and 200 metre snowshoe and a bronze in the 4 by 100 relay.  there were 43 Manitoba athletes that took part in the games in St Albert, Alberta. the province ended the event with 36 medals, 16 of those gold.  Provincial Team Manager Colleen Lowbon-Bulo says it was a great week for everyone who was there.
