This could be a day people in Teulon remember for a long time.
The Interlake town's one of the top 15 candidates in this year's Kraft Hockeyville contest, and are the only one from Manitoba. They're vying for a $100,000 prize, as well as an NHL exhibition game at their arena, and voting closes tonight at 11. A top 5 five finish is still worth $25,000. Teulon Chamber of Commerce Chair Jan Lambourne says a $100,000 cash infusion would be huge for Teulon's arena, with upgrades needed to the ventilation system this year. She adds lighting and their de-humidifier also need improvement.
Lambourne says the Teulon area's pumped as the voting deadline approaches, and they're receiving phone calls and e-mails from all over, wondering how to help. She adds winning the contest would be huge for the town, and urges everyone to help out. Lambourne plans to spend today getting as many people as possible to vote, multiple times.
