Craig Dunn receives a $1,000 cheque from Tammy Hammersley and the Portage CO-OP

The William Glesby Centre received a boost from two local organizations yesterday afternoon.
Glesby Centre Fundraising Chair Craig Dunn says the funds are welcomed and they are thankful for the support from Portage CO-OP and the Portage Credit Union. Dunn notes this is the result of luncheons held last year with groups of business and community minded people. He explains the purpose was to let people now more about the centre, the type of activities they have, and what some of our needs are. Dunn says running an arts centre in any community is a challenge and they could use the support. He adds they are thankful these organizations stepped forward to help out and they look forward to receiving other donations to help the Glesby Centre continue to be a vital part of the community.
Portage Credit Union CEO Dave Omichinski says they've been in support of the William Glesby Centre even before it existed. Omichinski notes part of their core values is supporting meaningful and sustainable community projects and the William Glesby Centre is an absolute jewel. Meanwhile Tammy Hammersley with Portage CO-OP Human Resource Member Relations notes the CO-OP thought it was a good fit as the centre does so much for our community.
