Annabelle Stuart (nee Fidler)

Peacefully, with her family by her side, Annabelle Stuart passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at the age of 87.

Annabelle will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Jim, and her children, Ken (Marnie), Kim (Donald), Terry (Alison), Rob (Karen); 11 grandchildren, Shayla, Kendra, Reaghen, Bruce, Jeffrey, Tyler, Jenalee, Dillen, Sarah, Eric and Jeremy; 3 great-grandchildren, Aurora, Briar and Easton; sisters-in-law Marion Fidler of Winnipeg, Ruth Chezick,Thelma Heikkinen, Gail Ruuska and brother-in-law Errol Stuart (Debbie) of Thunder Bay, as well as, nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.

Mom was predeceased by her parents, George and Louisa Fidler and her brothers George and Carl Fidler.

Mom was raised in the Poplar Point area. She married Dad in 1958, during his posting to Ottawa. Mom and Dad were an Air Force family and raised their four children while stationed at various postings in Alberta, Manitoba and Ontario. They built a home and settled on their property in rural Portage in 1979. Annabelle worked in housekeeping at the MDC for 14 years before retiring. In their retirement years, Mom and Dad travelled with family to Arizona, Florida, Las Vegas, Cuba and Hawaii. They enjoyed the benefits of country life, gardening, birdwatching, puzzle making and having friends and family over as often as possible. She thoroughly enjoyed keeping up with the National News and watching The Price Is Right and Wheel of Fortune. Listening to the CFRY Sunday Morning Request Show was something she loved to do. She was everyone’s favourite crib partner and taught us that winning isn’t everything. Mom’s years were full of love and hugs from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren of whom she was very proud. Mom never failed to acknowledge everyone’s birthdays and anniversaries and had a sense of humour that kept all of us grounded and left us laughing.

Our family would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the nursing staff of PDGH involved in her care and to Dr. Tyler Nelson.

A private interment with family will take place at a later date at St. Anne’s Anglican church near Poplar Point, Mb.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Annabelle’s memory to Diabetes Canada 401-1 Wesley Ave. Winnipeg, MB R3C 4C6 or to a charity of one’s choice.
