Ron MacLean will be in Portage today as the 15th annual Arron's Chance 2 Play golf tournament kicks off tomorrow evening.

The name Arron's Chance 2 Play is based around well-known local athlete Arron Asham. Asham had a successful NHL career before retiring in 2014.

Nancy Funk, the Foundation's Administrator says it's the first time they've ever done a sports dinner.

"It's our 15th anniversary. We just wanted to do something a little bit extra special to celebrate everybody's contributions over the last 15 years."

MacLean will be the guest speaker at the sports dinner Thursday with the golf tournament kicking off on Friday.

"Chance To Play was started to provide kids from the Central Plains region with the opportunity to play hockey and participate in Can-Skate regardless of their economic situation at home."

Chance 2 Play helps out an average of 30 to 40 kids each year in the Central Plains area.

Funk wants to thank all of the sponsors and all of the people that have given their support to make this event possible.
