A new fund's been established at the Community Foundation of Portage and District.

Executive director Mandy Dubois explains that it's a memorial fund.

"It's for a long-time board member of Big Brothers Big Sisters named Auna-Marie Brown who passed away this past December," says Dubois. "This fund that's being set up is an agency fund and all donations made are permanently endowed like all the funds of the Community Foundation. The investment income from it specifically will be given back to the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Central Plains to assist them in all the great work they do."

She explains Brown was involved with BBBS for over 15 years.

"It was an organization that was near and dear to her heart," adds Dubois. "This is something that the Community Foundation is proud of. We are here for donors and organizations in our community to help create this legacy to help remember those individuals that have made such an impact. Also, it was to take that legacy and have it support an organization like Big Brothers Big Sisters, which Auna held near and dear, continually year after year forever."
