Exams have been written and the new semester has begun. And with that, the sports teams of Portage Collegiate are back at it once again.

Last night, the Trojans hockey team picked up their 5th win in a row with a 7-0 victory over the 5th-place Pembina Tigers. (14-8) The win moves the Trojans back to the top of the Zone IV high school hockey league standings with the Morden Thunder - both teams have an 18-4 record with two games left in the regular season.

Rowan Peters would open the scoring for the Trojans 57 seconds into the second frame when he potted his first of three on the night. Singles went to Carson Inman, JJ Oke, Maddox Shindle, and Alex Van Deynze. Cam Sarna picked up four assists and Rowan Cherkas turned aside 42 shots for the shutout win. Oke, Sarna, and Van Deynze are 1-2-3 at the top of the league scoring race after the win.

The defending league champions have now won 5 in a row and host Garden Valley of Winkler on Thursday before wrapping up the regular season in Altona Friday against W.C. Miller.
