A few members of the Portage Terriers took part in the MJHL’s Spring Camp over the last month.

The league wanted to give as many players as possible the opportunity to get back on the ice in some fashion. They set up small groups to train together based on the area the players live in and Terrier forward Logan Calder attended the camp at Stride Place. He says this was a really good chance to shake some rust off.

“It was really nice to get back on the ice finally since the Terriers haven't skated since November,” says Calder. “It was nice to get into a routine again, do some drills, and battle.”

Calder outlines how important it was to recreate some of those battles.

“It helped a lot,” says Calder. “Every practice we’d do a one-on-one or two-on-two drill against the other team and simulate small battles in the corner and in front of the net. That was nice.”

Calder says their group was split into two separate teams during the camp and we do these drills against the other squad. The forward says he played alongside Terrier prospect Riley Borody during the camp and notes it was nice to build up some chemistry with him.

Calder says this was a great experience to have ahead of his final season in the MJHL
