A social assistance credit card for Dakota Tipi is undergoing change before being released.

The Dakota Tipi First Nation's launch of a prepaid credit card linked to social assistance money from the government has been postponed.

The card and service -- introduced by First Peoples Financial -- was to launch today, but has been rescheduled to next month due to a planned addition of a rewards program.

Chief Cornell Pasche ensures he and the company have prioritized the release of the card.  First Peoples Financial is trying to speed the process, as other first nations have shown interest in the concept.

Pasche refers to the wait as a necessary step for improvement as opposed to calling it a delay.  With the addition of a rewards program on the card users are given an incentive, and Pasche believes it'll provide for an economic boost.

He calls the wait worthwhile.
