Officials with the Carman-Dufferin Recreation Commission are confident their soccer pitch project will be ready for 2008. The community will host the Manitoba Summer games that year.
However, hot, dry, windy conditions this summer made it almost impossible for newly seeded grass to grow.
General Manager Tara Brennan says they have now decided to install irrigation which should fix that problem next year.
The plan is to install the irrigation system and plant new grass this fall.
Brennan says that still gives them enough time to have the pitch up and running for the games in two years time.
