The Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between Canada and the European Union comes into effect Thursday, September 21.

Manitoba Agriculture Minister Ralph Eichler gave his thoughts on what the deal means for the province.

"Lot's of opportunities there I think. Richardson has hit the ground running, they've bought a company in France that's going to give them a leading start on a number of initiatives which is going to be good for Manitoba, good for Canada in order to ensure that we have good trading partners moving forward as well."

He's also hoping the technology aspect of CETA is something that can be tapped into in the future.
