Children's Wish in Portage la Prairie has been working hard to grant wishes for kids with life-threatening diseases. Now, they're becoming a part of Make-a-Wish Canada.

Co-chair Marion Campbell says they've always strived to do their best for those in the community struggling with life-altering diseases, but they needed an easier way to gain funds to keep granting wishes. She explains that not only does joining up with Make-a-Wish help with funding, their branding will help certain wishes come true for Portagers.

"It gives us more availability to contact people. A lot of our wishes are meeting movie stars," notes Campbell. "We had no connection before. Being with them now, we can now do those types of wishes, so we just thought it was a win-win situation."

She adds it can be tough for a smaller group to try and grant the wishes of every child, so the opportunity to help more people was too good to pass up. She mentions some newer faces in the group have helped rejuvenate Make a Wish in Portage.

"We have a really nice group of younger ladies," notes Campbell. "it's just been a godsend to have these younger minds come in and they've just taken over and they're doing such wonderful work."

She'd also like to thank McKenzie United Church for giving them a place to hold their meetings.
