Lack of snow? Warmer temperatures? Nothing's going to hold this group of snowmobilers back.

Doug Atchison, president of Club Snow Inc., says the club held their first two-day trip since the COVID-19 pandemic, as they travelled from Portage la Prairie to Morden and back on February 11th and 12th.

"We headed on our own groomed trails to Holland, Manitoba," explains Atchison. "We stopped and had lunch, and then from there, we veered off down on other clubs' trails to La Riviere, south to Windy Gates, and back up to Morden by the end of the day."

He adds that the trip to Morden was about 145 miles when accounting for all of the detours. When they returned, they took a more direct route, which was 110 miles, taking them north through Roseisle, up to St. Claude, and finally back to Portage.

"We had a fun ride," says Atchison, "We met many other snowmobilers along the way, and, of course, the weather was superbly warm, so it was a very nice, easy ride to do."

While Club Snow Inc. is hoping to do these two-day rides once a year, the president mentions they'll be making one-day trips to places such as Gladstone and back, which would be roughly 120 miles roundtrip.

"We could have used more members, and even other snowmobilers were invited," says Atchison when asked about the turnout. "Unfortunately, non-club members didn't join us. It would have been nice to see a few other people with snowmobiles and come along for the ride."
