The Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to an injury at a construction site in the city's west end earlier this week.

On Monday, August 8th, Portage la Prairie RCMP received a report of a construction worker injured by a machine in a construction zone on the Trans-Canada Highway at the west end of Portage la Prairie.

According to police, the initial investigation has determined that a 26-year-old man from Brandon was working construction on site when he came into contact with a tow behind compactor causing significant injuries.

The 26-year-old was transported to hospital where he remains in stable condition.

The RCMP says that it does not appear that any criminality was involved in the incident.
