Prairie Rose School division is upgrading its bus fleet.

Trustees have approved the purchase of three new Thomas Freightliners.

Superintendent Fred Colvin says the purchase comes because of changes to provincial legislation stating school divisions should have more responsibility in wheelchair accessible bus service.
Colvin says upon investigation, trustees have decided to have at least one wheelchair accessible bus in every area of the division.

Colvin adds they have purchased one 66 passenger and two 78 passenger buses, with the two larger vehicles having wheelchair accessibility.

He says this upgrade has come at a cost of over $200,000.00.
The buses will be added to the Prairie Rose fleet for the upcoming school year.
