The Portage Terriers are swapping defencemen with a Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League squad.
The Dogs have shipped out 2002-born Brady Grasdal to the Nipawin Hawks for a player with an extra year of eligibility in Ranon Joseph.
Joseph played in 38 games at the Junior A level last season, split between Nipawin and the Drumheller Dragons of the AJHL. The defenceman finished the 2021-22 campaign with eight points and 82 penalty minutes.
The Sherwood Park, Alberta product is the brother of a former Terrier goaltender in Talor Joseph. Talor played in Portage from 2013 to 2015 and started his first game at the AHL level this year with the Toronto Marlies.
The 20-year-old Grasdal put up 10 points in 45 games of action this past season for Portage.
