The MJHL's Portage Terriers have traded Shael Hechter and the list rights to Josh Eason to Neepawa.

In return, the Terriers receive forward Tanner Irwin and the list rights to defenseman Cameron Canart.
20 year old Irwin was the captain of the Winkler Flyers last season and registered 14 goals and 15 assists. He was traded to Neepawa in the off-season.

Irwin stands tall at 6'2'' and weighs in at 200 lbs. He played 43 games in the WHL with the Kamloops Blazers as an 18/19 year old.

Terriers' coach and GM Blake Spiller believes Irwin brings leadership qualities. He descibes him as a power forward that will compliment the team's skill players. Spiller notes the Terriers have tried to acquire Irwin for some time, including while he was with Winkler.

He adds they gave up two quality players in Hechter and Eason, and believes they'll be assets to Neepawa this season.

Canart meanwhile is a 17 year old defenceman from Elkhorn who played with Yellowhead in the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey league last year. He is attending training camp with the WHL'S Saskatoon Blades.

Former Terrier forward Shael Hechter and defenseman Josh Eason are both from Winnipeg and are both 18.
