The Canadian Wheat Board is making an exception to its delivery policy because the winter wheat harvest is coming off so quickly.

Farm Business Representative Bert Dupasquier says the board will be allowing growers to deliver winter wheat before the start of the new crop year which begins August 1st.

He adds the speed of the harvest and the fact the board already knows it will be calling for the grain shortly after the start of the crop year played a role in the decision.

Dupasquier notes the grain will come into the system now, but will have to stay in storage until August 1st before producers will be able to price it under the new crop year pricing options.

He says winter wheat harvest is well underway in the Red River Valley, and will get into full swing in the southwest beginning early next week.
