One local farmer is optimistic this year will be a good one for farming. Curtis Sims of Emeline Farms says moisture conditions right now are favourable, but more heat is needed to get rid of frost. With enough moisture he says it should ensure germination, but it’ll be another two to three weeks before seeding can begin. Sims is hopeful that prices will hold up, and that the railway starts moving to haul product. He says as long as there’s a couple good rains, everything should work out well.

Emeline Farms produces mainly wheat, canola, corn, and soybeans. They're located between Austin and MacGregor.
