Fay Janette Roman  (nee Dow)

 

Peacefully, on April 18, 2023, Fay Roman passed away with family by her side at Lions Prairie Manor in Portage la Prairie, MB at the age of 76 years.

Fay is survived by her daughter Tricia (Edgar); granddaughter Emma (Aden); grandson Luke (PJ); great grandson Holden; siblings Brenda, Jerene, Larry (Brenda) and Roxanne; siser-in-law Marlene; nieces and nephews Greg, Kevin (Karen), Todd, Stacey (Dan), Brandon and Steven (Lisa); great-nieces and nephews Josh (Alyshia), Colton (Lisa), Aiden, Chase, Rebecca and Paxton; and special friends Susan Wiebe and Joey Biccum; along with numerous extended family members and friends.

Fay was predeceased by her father Arthur Dow, mother Vivian Dow, brother Hazen Dow, and brother-in-law Jud Ringer.

Fay was born on March 17, 1947 in Regina, SK, and was raised in Penzance, SK and attended school in Iduna/Penzance, SK. In her early adult years, Fay became a hairdresser and worked in Moose Jaw, SK where she made many friends. In 1983, she changed careers and went back to school to take Business Education. She started work at Inventronics and worked there until the plant closed in 1992. In 1996, she moved to Winnipeg, where she worked at Health Canada until her retirement.

In 2012, Mom moved to the Odd Fellows Tower in Portage la Prairie where she enjoyed many card games and was involved in local rec clubs.  Mom alongside her brother Hazen were always among the first to pull out a deck of cards at a family gathering.  She was also a long-time member of the Moose Jaw T.O.P.S. Chapter.

Mom enjoyed many girls get away trips to Moose Jaw, SK and Medicine Hat, AB with Tricia and her Honey Bear Emma, who was the sparkle of her eye.  She loved family get togethers and on many occasions had movie nights with the youngest nieces and nephews,

The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff at Lions Prairie Manor for their care and compassion over the past few years.

Fay’s family will celebrate her life privately. Interment will take place at a later date in the Penzance Cemetery in Saskatchewan.

If friends so desire, donations may be made in Fay’s memory to The Lions Prairie Manor Foundation, 24-9th St. SE Unit 114, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3V4.

A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel.
