Many participants from the Portage area put their runners to good use in celebration of Southport Aerospace Centre's 30th Anniversary. 23 participants ran 10km around Southport, beginning and ending in Interpretive Park. Southport donated $5000, as well as all of the registration fees are going toward the Community Foundation of Portage and District to help with future activities. Race director Nate Coates talks about how important the running community in Portage is.

"We like to bring awareness to what we do in Southport. We want to get people out here, and we think it's a great opportunity to bring the running community to the site. I know there's a giant running community, I see you all out on the Crescent and running around town all the time," continues Coats, "This event was for that community. We've had a great turnout, and let's hope we can do it again next year."

Coates also says he is thankful for everyone who came out to support the community.

"It was a beautiful day, a little overcast, a little drizzly, but everyone did an amazing job today. A huge thank you to everyone who showed up; amazing job by all the runners."
