Grain Growers of Canada is one of more than 40 organizations that have joined forces to fight the federal government’s proposed tax changes for private corporations.

The group is called the Coalition for Small Business Tax Fairness.

Grain Growers President Jeff Nielsen said they joined the cause to help get the message out quick and fast.

"I think it's a big concern for a lot of farmers and family farms and family farm owned corporations," he commented. "Some of these changes could drastically affect how we do an intergenerational transfer."

The Liberal's 75-day consultation period on the proposed tax changes ends on October 2.

Nielsen noted the timing of the consultation period was also not great for farmers, who are right in the middle of harvest.
