Children have to use lunch hour at school for more than just playing.

Jannelle Botterill, Clinical Dietitian for the Central Regional Health Authority, thinks parents must pack healthy lunches for their kids.

She understands time is a factor and parents are busy so making lunches slips on the priority list. Botterill explains small changes such as replacing fruit beverages with real fruit juice can make a huge difference.

She says if parents make a lunch plan it is easier to include items from all the food groups.
