How do you know when Manitoba is almost ready to move from winter to spring? The blizzard and winter storm warnings change to rainfall warnings.

Speaking of, Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a rainfall warning for much of southern Manitoba. Heavy rain could fall in Portage la Prairie and much of the surrounding rural municipalities this weekend. Over the next few days, we could see 30 to 40 millimetres in some areas, while others could see as much as 60.

In the forecast, Portage could also see some freezing rain, wind gusting between 60 and 90 kilometres per hour, and even thunderstorms on Saturday.

Looking to Sunday, it appears it could be snowy and windy across the Central Plains.
