Unpredictable weather continues to be an issue for all of us here in Manitoba this spring, especially at the Herman Prior Activity Centre.

The Herman Prior was scheduled to host a craft sale this Saturday, April 23, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., but the Colorado low tracking to hit the province has put everything up in the air.

Kathy Bryce, executive director at the centre, talks about what she is thinkings about heading into this weekend's event.

"Up until the latest weather forecast, I was feeling pretty great about it because we had all the tables filled for Saturday for the craft sale. We got all our baking done, ready for the baked table. But then I'm hearing the weather forecast, and they are talking about another Colorado low. So, that could put a real damper on our plans for Saturday."

Bryce says that if they have to postpone the craft sale, they will combine it with the flea market the following Saturday, April 30.

"We started doing them separate just this last fall. We did the craft sale on one weekend and the flea market on another weekend, and all the vendors seem to like it that way. But if we have to postpone this, I will see if the vendors could move to the 30. So, that is my tentative plan right now anyway."

Bryce outlines what it will look like if things turn out and they can host the event on time.

"We're going to be having a canteen with chilli and fresh biscuits to go up for sale. We'll have our usual door prize and 50/50 draw, and then we will have, like I said, our baked table. We've got a bunch of baking that we've done here, and we should be getting some coming in from the members soon."

Bryce adds that there are over 22 tables that are sold right now for the event and that any extra funding the centre gets from the event will be going into the new back offices that they are in the process of building.

This has to feel like a bit of Deja Vu for the Herman Prior Activity Centre as just recently as last week, they had to postpone their Easter dinner due to that evil white precipitation, better known as snow.
