One in four Canadians who have H.I.V. don't know it.

Shelley Buchan, Medical Officer of Health for the Central Regional Health Authority, is not surprised by the numbers. She says H.I.V is a very hard illness to detect, adding you won't just all of a sudden come down with symptoms.

Buchan adds test are available from your family doctor and suggest if you are unsure to get tested, especially those who have high risks such as multiple sexual partners or intravenous drug use.
