The Whoop and Hollar Folk Fest are gearing up for their shows this Summer.

Among the performers is Onna Lou, an artist originally from Argentina that moved to Winnipeg, and has been working on her project for the past 11 years. She caught up with Portage Online to tell us why she's so excited to come to Portage.

"I haven't been to Portage la Prairie yet," explains Lou. "I moved to Winnipeg six years ago and I've never been there so it'll be very nice to play the festival. Things are picking up now after the pandemic and I'm releasing my second album in two weeks so it's great for me to be able to bring my music there."

She adds she played a ton of shows before the pandemic but is itching to get back on stage following a forced sidelining. She says she did shows online throughout the pandemic, but can't compare that to the feeling of live music, as it's just so much more fulfilling.

"We feed off of each other with the energy," notes Lou. "It took some adjusting but now going back to live and feeling that again, it's clearly what the best part about sharing music is."
