The Portage Islanders are eliminated from the SEMHL playoffs. The Islanders dropped game seven 4-3 last night to the Notre Dame Hawks. Forward Tyler Harland says the game could've gone either way.

"I thought we came out and competed hard," says Harland. "It's unfortunate that the first goal we had was disallowed. I think that changes the game if they make the right call there but that's the way it goes sometimes. Props to Norte Dame, they played hard all series."

The Islanders attempted to come back from down 3-1 in the third period and tied it up with goals coming from Jonah Wasylak and Jamie Mousseau, however, they only held onto the lead for ten seconds. This gave us the final score of 4-3 Hawks.

Harland says despite the outcome, he believes this season was still a success.

"Finishing first place, that's the first time we've done that," Harland explains. "A month off between the end of the regular season and the start of the semi-finals probably didn't help us, but COVID and a few different things impacted that. Maybe that's something the league will review in the future."

The Islanders are looking forward to getting back on the ice next season.
