With the race for City and RM Council heating up, School Board has taken a back seat.
Only 4 candidates have stepped forward to fill the nine seats reserved for trustees.  Concerned parent Loreley Greenslade recalls the proposal to reduce the amount of trustees from 9 to 7, she says the board denied it earlier this year--she believes the lack of interest in filling trustee seats emphasizes the need to review how many board members are actually needed.
Greenslade notes if trustees are elected by acclamation it ruins the democratic process, she's disappointed the people who have a vested interest in their children's education tend to be the busiest and aren't able to run.  If you would like to run for school board you can pick up nomination papers right now, the deadline to have your papers filed is September 18th.
