Portage Terriers' leading-scorer, Hayden Lacquette, is the Manitoba Junior Hockey League's Defenceman of the Month. Lacquette is being recognized for his performance in November, where he scored four goals and dished out nine assists over the course of nine games.

The Defenceman of the Month award has been dominated by the Terriers this season as Lacquette has now won it twice and Brandon McCartney was the only other recipient so far this season.

Lacquette and McCartney are one and two in the MJHL when it comes to points by a defenceman, as Lacquette has 28 and McCartney has 24. They are both tied for third in assists across the entire league, with 21 apiece.

The 19-year-old Lacquette was kept off the stat sheet in four out of his nine games this month but had five multi-point games, including a four-assist game against the Winnipeg Blues and a three-point outing against the Niverville Nighthawks.

The Dauphin product is also tied for the lead in goals by a defenceman with seven this season. Lacquette is tied for seventh in points in the MJHL and has picked up two game-winning-goals for the Terriers while also leading the league in penalty minutes at 106.

Lacquette has already surpassed his point total last season as he finished 2021-22 with 25 points in 40 games. The defenceman is on pace to crack the 60-point mark this year.

He and the Portage Terriers will be back in action on Saturday as they welcome the OCN Blizzard to town.
