This weekend marks the end of the regular season for the Tiger Hills Hockey League. The Gladstone Lakers have had a very successful year and are looking to continue their impressive play into the playoffs.

The Lakers started the season 0-2 but have only lost two more games since then and are looking to finish the season at the top of their division.

"We came a long way from the start of the year, for sure," says head coach Dale Evenson. "That's normal for us. We always start off slow. We get new guys, and they have to get to know everybody. The commitment has been pretty good this year, the last little bit has been tougher with the weather but we're pretty happy with the year so far. Hopefully, we have a long ways to go yet."

Evenson notes after the year they've had, the goal is to make it all the way to the finals and reclaim the title of league champions. He adds this team knows what it takes to win it all.

"2018 would be the last time we won it. So, we still have a lot of the same guys," Evenson continues. "I wouldn't say half of the team but probably eight to ten guys played on that 2018 team. They all know what it feels like to win, so, hopefully, they want to get that feeling back."

The Lakers will host the Killarney Shamrocks, in their final outing of the season, on Saturday. Killarney will enter this contest having only three losses all year.
