Since the beginning of August, rain falling has been a rare event in southern Manitoba for the most part. The dry conditions have been welcomed by farmers who are in the midst of harvest season.

After a late start in the spring due to extremely wet conditions, the rest of the growing season has been very good and most farmers are reporting surprisingly good yields and conditions. In fact, with how dry it has been, some are even starting to see some cracks in the fields. Last night's rain isn't really expected to slow things down much and for the most part, totals were quite small. The forecast is calling for a few more light showers on Friday.
