Four days of work ended on Thursday, as delegates to the Association of Manitoba Municipalities convention left Winnipeg.

RM of Portage Reeve Toby Trimble believes newly elected councillors gained a lot from the conference. They attended training seminars on municipal government, and he's convinced they have a better idea of how to do their jobs.

Trimble used his time in Winnipeg to network with other reeves and councillors about common issues.

Meanwhile, Mayor Ken Brennan headed the City of Portage's delegation, and is glad Ron Bell was acclaimed as AMM president. He feels Bell's done a good job in the post.

Brennan's also glad a resolution calling for infrastructure grants to be per capita based was defeated. He thinks those kind of grants should be based on merit, not population.
