Update-

The Manitoba RCMP says that they are continuing to investigate the suspicious deaths of three individuals located in a residence on 7th Street SE in Portage.

Officers are reportedly working with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the cause of the deaths and to confirm identities.

The adult man who was placed into custody yesterday has since been released.

“We know this a very difficult time for the community. We want to assure the residents of Portage la Prairie that our officers are doing everything they can to move this investigation forward” said Cpl. Julie Courchaine, spokesperson for the Manitoba RCMP. “We have a number of specialized resources on-scene, including Major Crime Investigators and Forensic Identification Services as well as officers from the Portage la Prairie detachment.”

Additional information is expected to be released tomorrow.

Portage la Prairie RCMP is reporting that three individuals were killed in a house fire on 7th Street SE in Portage la Prairie.

RCMP say officers responded to a house fire at 1 a.m. on the morning of April 10, where they found the fire department extinguishing the fire. The RCMP is considering the deaths suspicious. 

An adult male is currently in custody.

RCMP Major Crime Services along with the Forensic Identification Section, Portage la Prairie RCMP Detachment and the Office of the Fire Commissioner, continue to investigate.
