The province of Manitoba recorded 93 new cases of COVID-19 today, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 55,331 since the start of the pandemic.

The data shows:

  • 14 cases within the Interlake-Eastern region;
  • 8 cases within the Northern region;
  • 5 cases within the Prairie Mountain region;
  • 24 cases within the Southern Health-Santé Sud region;
  • 42 cases within the Winnipeg health region.

The current province-wide COVID-19 test positivity rate is 8 per cent. It's 7.2 per cent in Winnipeg. There are currently 2,166 active cases of the virus in the province, while 52,041 individuals have recovered.

There are currently 57 people in ICU due to COVID-19, 34 with active cases and 23 who continue to require care. The total number of hospitalisations due to the virus is 233. Of those individuals, 140 have active cases of COVID-19, while 93 continue to require care.

Meanwhile, another 6 deaths in people with COVID-19 were reported today, including:

  • a male in his 30s from the Winnipeg health region linked to an unspecified variant of concern;
  • a male in his 50s from the Winnipeg health region;
  • a female in her 50s from the Winnipeg health region linked to the B.1.1.7 (alpha) variant of concern;
  • a male in his 60s from the Winnipeg health region linked to an unspecified variant of concern;
  • a female in her 60s from the Winnipeg health region; and
  • a male in his 70s from the Southern Health-Santé Sud health region. 

This brings the total number of deaths due to the virus to 1,124.
