Selkirk-Interlake MP James Bezan had a first-hand look at the tornado damage suffered by Gull Lake over the August long weekend. He toured the area late last week, and found the experience overwhelming, particularly when looking at how much work is needed to restore the region.
The area received no warning of the tornado until 25 minutes after it passed through. Bezan says developing an effective warning system is a priority of the Tory government.
He adds Ottawa's ready with disaster assistance money, but the first move is up to the province.
