Progress is being made on efforts to amalgamate four credit unions into one financial institution.

July 1st will mark the official formation of Access Credit Union, which involves the merger of Heartland, Altona, Agassiz and Dufferin Credit Unions into a single entity.

Members of the Lowe Farm Credit Union will vote next month on whether to merge their operation into Access.

Chief Executive Officer Robert Jones says if those members vote in favour of amalgamating, it won't slow down their process at all.

He says merging lowe farm into the new credit union would only be completed by January 1st of 2010.

He says by that time all the training and policies will be well in place, making it a lot smoother for lowe farm members.

Jones adds there is still a lot of work to be done before access credit union is up and running on July 1st.
